A Dutch football club withdrew its proposed advertisement featuring the club captain on a city building after a warning from the Gaming Authority (KSA). The plan, involving a life-size image of the captain in a shirt with an online gaming provider's logo, was considered a violation of regulations by the KSA. The initiative, initially intended as a tribute, was flagged as untargeted advertising for online gambling rather than sports sponsorship. The KSA emphasized the lack of a direct relationship between the promotion, the sport, and the venue, potentially infringing on the ban against using role models. The football club chose to retract the advertisement to avoid a preventive sanction.
